KIEKU BELIEVES IN INNOVATIONS
Kieku was established in 2007 by 17 poultry farms. Today Kieku produces ca. 20 % of all eggs in Finland. Kieku believes in innovations based on research and development and with the help of experts has built a crossfunctional network in Finland to support this.
The first innovation in improving egg fat composition has been launched in May 2009 by the name Kieku omegaOptima™. With special feed developed with Finnish Feed Ltd. the nutritional quality of eggs is optimal and as recommended. Read more about nutrition here.
EGGS ARE SAFE IN FINLAND – you can eat raw eggs!
The incidence of Salmonella in Finland is very low: according to the EFSA report in 2007 Salmonella was detected in only one flock (0.4%). In the EU as a whole, Salmonella was detected in 30.8% of holdings. This situation in Finland is based on decades of R&D work and today the control system covers the entire production chain. The eggs are traceable because of a stamp printed on each egg. The stamp tells the production method, country, farm, batch and the packaging unit. Read more about safety here.
OmegaOptima™ eggs are produced both in barn and enriched cage systems. Basic and seasonal eggs are also available and are produced with both of these methods. Read more about production here.
